The Streetscapes Committee addresses issues related to the safety of the streets and sidewalks in our neighborhood. Specifically, this committee focuses on the evaluation and planning of additional sidewalks, streetlights or signage that enhance the safety of pedestrians walking, biking, or running in the neighborhood. Many of our projects are done in collaboration with effected neighbors and the City of Dallas Streets Department.
In December of 2012, additional reflectors and street striping were installed around the island on Lausanne and Colorado. As part of that project, additional signage for the approaching stop sign at Edgefield and Colorado were installed on both the east and west bound traffic on Colorado to make the intersection safer.
In February 2008, KNU completed its largest “streetscapes” project to date. The completion of sidewalks on the north side of W. Colorado Blvd., all the way from Turner to Kessler Parkway at Stevens Park Golf Course. This created a long, continuous stretch of sidewalks along Kessler Park’s principal artery (W. Colorado Blvd.).
Many of these projects are made possible by the voluntary dues contributions of KNU neighbors. If you have an issue that you would like to discuss as a possible project, please contact Cindy Pierce at [email protected].
